Our first Christmas Tree.
Here it is our first Christmas tree that my wife and I picked out for our celebration. It was short, squat, crooked, and not well shaped. We knew it was going to be a problem as soon as we got it home. The tree had to be tilted in the tree stand just to give it the illusion of being straight. If you look closely at the picture you can see two wires from the wall tied to the tree to hold it up. The part of the tree against the wall was sparse, which was nice as the tree did not intrude too far into our living room. As I said this was our first Christmas, and this year will mark our 43rd. Every one of them has had that magic spirit, but this is the one that initiated our family’s Christmas traditions.

It’s been 54 years since our first tree & this year it is a table top tree that is topped with our wedding photo & covered with photos of our kids, grand & great grandkids in our motor home. Thanks for your blog & getting me to remember Christmases past!

I remember these trees. Almost anyone who was anyone had a tree like this. Some preferred the blue decorations and some multicolored ones. I remember a fairly wealthy family who had hot pink decorations on their tree and everyone drove by the house to see it for themselves. You can surely tell how many years ago that was.
So many different types of decorations over the years. My favorite are the bubble lights.

I loved setting up the Christmas tree with my “second mother” who lived with my family until she passed away in 2006. The tree was set up on a table and after that we would place rolls of cotton underneath to represent snow. Then we would set up little figurines that she received from her parents. This special memory is so sentimental to me that I have tears running down my face as I am writing this.
Every year, there was always a gift under the tree for me from Santa : ).

Guess What Charles? This will be our 43 Christmas as well, because today is our 43 anniversary! We honeymooned our first Christmas together, although I remember that my husband, Max, was finishing up making a little wooden rocker for our niece! LOL What’s he doing right this minute? He’s out in the garage finishing up a gift he’s making for our grandchild! LOL When you get married the week before Christmas, tthat is the price you pay for having loving family, cheap at any price! I love this đŸ™‚ My husband and I celebrated our first Christmas together in Florida – being from Michigan, that was VERY weird. We’re now back north where cutting down our Christmas tree is a cold outing. It makes us miss that odd Christmas we had!
I think I am at the point now where a Christmas without snow is something I would like to try.
Yeah, after coming back and experiencing a Christmas with snow once again, my husband and I both agree we could go back to without. It is weird at first but I think it would grow on us đŸ™‚

What an adorable tree. It’s not really a Charlie Brown tree as it is quite substantial, but it’s definitely round and jolly!!

I love this! Our first tree was a very small artificial tree that my mom sent me while I was a freshman in college. It had one string of lights, one string of tinsel and a handful of ornaments. I love Christmas! Thanks for sharing.
Christmas is truly a wonderful time of the year. As someone told me it is not the tree that counts but the people and memories that surrounds it.
Wonderful! I have a slideshow of our Christmas’s. Strangely, the ones I remember most are from my childhood.

My father’s mother’s maiden name is Moore, so I have a lot of them in my tree. Perhaps we are related?
Perhaps, but with so many of us out there it is a long shot. My Moore family that I know of came from Potter County PA. and Tioga County in N.Y.. Does this sound like your family?
No, it doesn’t. My 5th ggf was born in 1680 in Germany. He settled in Craven, NC.
No, it doesn’t. Most of my Moore family is from the south.
